More generalizations

3) Put gold in their mouth. Their ENTIRE mouth.
2) Run on CP Time (This is actually done on purpose...)
1) "Nigga-rigging" (Hispanics are GREAT at this too)

Honorable Mention: Extravagant Greetings. A simple handshake or hug won't do. Greetings are uusally accompanied with weird noises, lots of hand signals, and depending on the relationship probably a small dance.

Top 5 Things White People Do That Black Folks Don't

I'm in the mood for some broad generalizations...

5) Vote Republican
4) Have a country music station programmed on their radio
3) Like women with no meat on their bones
2) Play Golf (Tiger's only one person)
1) Kiss their pets in the mouth

Honorable Mention: Sleeping outside for ANYTHING. Football tickets, Xbox 360s, movie tickets, some super sale at Target, whatever. That's an all white event right there.

Top 5 Potential Progressive Slogans

The other day at work, one of the guys had to call the Nationwide claims department. Well they put him on hold for a while and apparently the Nationwide jingle is their hold music. When he got off he remarked, "Ya know, we don't have any cool slogans or jingles. Someone needs to come up with some."

Here's 5.

5) Progressive. Born From Jets.
4) Progressive. We have cool cars.
3) Progressive. No, not the soup company. The other Progressive.
2) Progressive. No cartoon dogs or silly geckos. Just good service.
1) Progressive. If it's got wheels, it's got insurance.*

*Progressive insures Segway scooters. Which I think is rediculous and brillant at the same time.

Mucho Cerveza

Bienvenidos to Cinco de Piddy's 1st semi-drunk post. Since I'm making this the flagship, expect random stories here in addition to the normal "list-post-go" format of this blog. Promise they won't be long stories. Just used moreso as a set up piece.

Anyways, tonight I didn't want to go out. I could have, but I just wasn't up for going to Five Points. I like girls. I like beer. I like randomness. I like strippers. I just wasn't up for it tonight. Which wasn't a completely bad thing. I got a chance to chit chat w/ Miss Jen (which is always great randomness in itself), watch some good football, and laugh at Libby and her encounter with the Loch Ness Monster. Well after all of them went to sleep, I decided I wanted to drink. Who decides this at 3:30am? Me. In case you've forgotten, I'm a night-shifter at heart. What's 3:30am to you is only 9pm to me.

While I have no problem with drinking by myself, I always need a gimmick. Usually its wrestling (which explains why I've never seen Michaels v. Angle from WrestleMania 21 sober), but I wasn't in a mood to watch guys slam each other on the mat. Jen gave me the idea of celebrating her brother's birthday and her parent's annivesary, which is fine. Just as good of a reason as any, but I still needed a theme.

That's when it hit me. Hip hop blowout!! (For those of you keeping score at home, keep note - I NEVER use the exclaimation point, let alone twice. The alcohol is starting to kick in.) There's nothing like a flashback to the late 80s/early 90s to make you feel good. So without further adieu, here is my hip-hop play list. I mean you can't have a good party without good music, even if it is just a party of one (it coulda been a party of five, but my parents didn't die in a car accident).

In no particular order or ranking (seeing as how Winamp was on shuffle):
  • Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - "White Lines"
  • Pharcyde - "Passin Me By"
  • Cool C - "Glamorous Life"
  • 2Pac - "Brenda's Got A Baby'
  • George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic - "One Nation Under A Groove"
  • Paperboy - "Ditty"
  • LL Cool J - "I'm Bad"
  • Arrested Development - "Mr. Wendal"
  • Dr. Dre - "Let Me Ride"
  • Ice Cube - "It Was A Good Day"
  • Beastie Boys - "Girls"
  • Digable Planets - "Rebirth of Slick"
  • Run-DMC - "Rockbox"
  • Kid N' Play - "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" (you don't want none of Piddy. I go way back)
  • Digital Underground - "Humpty Dance"
Now hopefully I don't get up and try to break out 5th-grade-esque dance moves. Because there's deifnitley no one out here to help me other than Curious George. And while he's been a great friend, I don't think he can dial 9-1-1 without some human assistance.

A Little Better

Image once again from Yahoo! Music

A little better. It's still not me. But it is a black dude. And I'm black. So the next logical step is Shakira, Piddy, Mariah. I like it.

Since I need a list to make this a valid post

Top 5 Excuses...

...overheard while leaving Williams-Brice after the Clemson Tigers 13-9 victory over the University of South Carolina Gamecocks

5) "That first interception they got hit the ground." - No it didn't. Hell, they even reviewed it to make sure it didn't hit the ground.

4) "Blake threw 3 interceptions." - You got one of them back for a 24 yard gain. And Charlie threw 2, one of them being his first pass, the other his fourth pass. Moot point.

3) "If we had gotten in the endzone we would have won big." - Agreed. You whupped us good in the first half. Too bad you couldn't finish the job with 7 each time instead of 3. We even gave you the ball on the 10 and you couldn't get a touchdown. Actually, you guys lost a yard.

2) "We just couldn't make any big plays." - Apparently you guys are blind. You guys were connecting with Sydney Rice all night. Mike Davis wasn't shabby either. Just say you couldn't score.

1) "If we didn't let them convert on 1st & 35 we would have won." - True. That's Carolina football for you.

63-36-4

I want a new rival. This one's broken.

Randomnimnity.

Hell, why not. My turn. Ideal stolen from Mandy...who actually borrowed it from Libby.

1) I love really, really, really bad music
2) I 100% of my news from either The Colbert Report or Yahoo! news
3) My sister and I's magic word is "Lobster" instead of "Please." It's been that since we were 3 & 7.
4) I made a poem when I was younger entitled "I like cornbread." It goes:
I like cornbread.
Cornbread likes me.
Something, something, something.
I like cornbread.
My sister and I both know this by heart. Unfortunately we can't remember the original line where "something, something, something" now resides.
5) My biggest pet peeve is people who misspell my name. Terence - 1 R, 3 Es, no As.
6) I know way more about the Power Rangers mythology and history than I should
7) I got up every morning while I was at CCF just to watch Power Rangers Ninja Storm.
8) Capcom's Street Fighter code is engraved into my soul. I don't know it anymore, but can do it at ease on a SNES controller.
9) My favorite color as a kid was red.
10) My favorite color now is blue.
11) I couldn't stand orange until junior year of high school.
12) I didn't learn that Clemson was in South Carolina until I was in the 8th grade
13) I was a South Carolina fan as a kid.
14) I was a dumb little kid.
15) I own every Nintendo system. Even the Virtual Boy.
16) I love traveling
17) Chicago is my most favorite city ever. Los Angeles is my least favorite.
18) I love hispanic girls -- but -- according to my friends, I only date/am attracted "fair-skinned" white girls. They're right (and way too observant).
19) I was known as a "rotation expert" in high school
20) I was the first person from my high school to be selected to attend the Governor's School of Science & Mathematics
21) I have my face on a Wheaties box. Seriously.
22) I once fell asleep at the boardroom table during a presentation by General Mills' CEO.
23) I made my family listen to Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" 14 times in a row on our last family vacation.
24) I haven't been on family vacation since 2002
25) I'm going to name my first child Chug as a result of a bet from my sister
26) I seriously never ever want to have any daughters

28) I've been known to stop caring over the littlest things
29) I don't hold grudges, I just don't give a fuck

31) I want to sit in on an S & M session. Or an orgy. Just to watch. (No matter how I spin this, its not going to come out like I want to. Next...)
32) If I had TiVo, I'd never leave the house. Which defeats the point of the thing.
33) I once was part of a 3 hour argument over what color bananas are.
34) I HATE banana pudding and vanilla wafers

44) My mom and I hid the fact we were related when she taught me in 7th Grade for about 5 months.
45) My first [real] kiss came in Algebra I class in 8th grade.
46) I've never seen the Shawn Michaels v. Kurt Angle match from WrestleMania 21 sober. I've seen it 7 times.
47) I get legitimately upset when Capcom or Nintendo retcon the history of their respective series for no good reason. Street Fighter Alpha 3, great game, but threw all of the history of the series out of the window.
48) My only fears are some rodents, hitting deer on the highway, and dying in the shower.

57) I once worked in a Waffle House for three days.

Top 5 Rappers I Wonder What Happened To

5) Kurtis Blow - probably the most serious entry on the list. He had some good tracks back in the 80s.

4) Snow - Did he ever find out who the Informer was? And did he lick his boom-boom down?

3) Sir-Mix-A-Lot - Last I heard he was making ringtones. Waste of talent there.

2) Coolio - Man, how the mighty have fallen. At one point he was taking us all on a fantastic voyage and doing videos with Michelle Phefier (sp?). Then he got talked into doing the theme song for Kenan & Kel. Yeah, that was a good career move.

1) Skee-Lo - Did he ever get taller? Did he ever become a baller? Did ever get a girl who looked good so he could call her?

Honorable Mention:
  • N 2 Deep - Everyone knows "Back 2 Da Hotel" after hearing it. They coulda been big.
  • Cool C - "Glamorous Life" is seriously one of my all time favorite songs.
  • Onyx or House of Pain - They coulda been the same group. Other than one being 4 black dudes from Oakland and the other being 4 Irish white guys, there wasn't much difference.
  • Kriss Kross - I seriously believe that if JD used his new So So Def label (Dem Franchize Boyz, Bow Wow, etc) to reintroduce these guys again (hey, third time's the charm) they MIGHT be able to make it big. I'd hold off on the backward clothes though. It was dumb in 5th grade. It'll be dumb now.

50th Post Special: Life Soundtrack

When you step away from life for a second, it seems as if we're all just characters in a movie. Now while some of us are in Cannes Film Festival quality movies, some of us are stuck in some B-movie production from Troma. Well either way, every good movie has to have a soundtrack, so guess what I'm going to do here. ;-) Now I know, what some of you are saying already. "But Terence, movies don't have soundtracks that have 50 songs." Well movies don't last for 22 years either. I'm sure that if all the important stuff in life happened to me in 2 hours & 15 mins I could get this list down to 15 songs or so, but I wasn't that fortunate...or unfortunate.

Unlike most of my lists, there's no real ranking to this, though the 15 most important songs will be bolded for SIGNIFICANCE. Or something like that. And before you think I can't do this, remember, I hold the most minute details in the same regard as the major life events. Look for little stuff to make a big factor on this list. Also, like every soundtrack, there will be songs that don't really make any sense.

An Ocean of Memories
50) Fastball - "The Way" (1st song on radio after getting my license)
49) Vitamin C - "Graduation" (high school graduation)

30) Alphaville - "Forever Young" (Ever wasted time in your life and you knew it?)
29) My Chemical Romance - "Helena" (As much as I love this song, it reminds me of the time when I'd wake up hating every second of life. It hurt just to get up and be productive. When I hear it now, I still remember feeling like I'd (phsycially and mentally) hit the lowest of the low and that up was the only way to go from there on out.
28) The Killers - "Smile Like You Mean It" (Every yin has its yang. I guess this would be playing during the scene where I pull myself up by the bootstraps and start making changes.)

Best Actress Nominees
27) The Cure -"Pictures of You" (Michele)

Top 5 TV Shows

5) WWE SmackDown!
4) Robot Chicken
3) CNBC Closing Bell
2) ESPN College GameDay Final
1) WWE Monday Night RAW

Ya know, I always say I want TiVo. If I had TiVo, barring any special events (football games, holiday specials, etc), I'd use it to record 3 hrs and 15 mins of television. RAW I always watch live and there'd be no point to record Closing Bell as the market changes daily. And then once College Football season ends, it'd down to 2 hrs and 15 mins of television.

Maybe I should just make sure my next computer has A/V inputs and Windows Media Center Edition installed.

Piddy's Top 5 Kids Show Theme Songs

(Sponsored by Retro Junk)

I made sure to specify that this is my list because I'm sure a lot of people are gonna go "what?" for some of these selections. And once again for fairness, the theme song from "The REAL Ghostbusters" is not eligible for consideration.

5) Mysterious Cities of Gold (theme)
4) Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics (theme)
3) Help! It's The Hair Bear Bunch (theme)
2) Heathcliff & The Cadillac Cats (theme)
1) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (theme)

Honorable Mention: The Banana F'N Splits (theme)

Top 10 Songs Used The Most Effectively In A Movie

Top 10 because I'm sure 5 won't be enough. These songs didn't necessarily have to directly related to a movie or on the sountrack, but its inclusion in the movie added something to it. And to make this fair, Ray Parker Jr's - "Ghostbusters" is not eligible.

10) Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Good (Back to the Future I & II)
9) KISS - "God Gave Rock & Roll To You II" (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure)
8) Celine Dion - "My Heart Will Go On" (Titanic)
7) Jerry Goldsmith - "Gremlins Theme" (Gremlins / Gremlins 2)
6) Rainbow Brite - "Rainbow Brite & Me" (Rainbow Brite: The Movie)
5) Parker/Stone - "America, Fuck Yeah!" (Team America: World Police)
4) Steve Martin - "Dentist" (Little Shop of Horrors)
3) Righteous Brothers - "Unchained Melody" (Ghost)
2) Propellerheads - "Spybreak!" (The Matrix)
1) Pixies - "Where Is Your Mind" (Fight Club)

*shakeshead* I've never made a list that made so much sense yet none at all at the same time.
