(Scene: It's just another random Wednesday at Terence and Eric's house. Terence is at his computer when Eric comes into his room.)

Eric: Hey, you think I can jump over this?
(Eric points to the ironing board at the foot of Terence's bed)
Terence: You probably could, but let's not find out.
Eric: Why not?
Terence: I don't want you to break my bed.
Eric: That's not a good enough reason.
Terence: I don't want you to break my ironing board.
Eric: Still not good enough.
Terence: Well, I don't want you to hurt yourself. And seeing as how you don't have health insurance, your folks would have to pay for any resulting injuries. Something tells me that you don't want to tell your mom that you hurt yourself jumping over an ironing board. Remember how we picked at Amber for breaking her foot by jumping on...err, through her futon?
Eric: ...you know, you present some very good points, but there still wasn't a good reason as to why I shouldn't do this.
Terence: Alright fine, but if you're going to break an ironing board, use Merck's raggedy ass ironing board that he left here. And use your own couch for a landing pad.
Eric: Deal.
(Eric and Terence head downstairs. The following video details the events that followed)

2006 In Review

Just a quick recap of 2006, done in the same style that I did last year.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you hadn't done before? Go on vacation with someone else's family that wasn't mine. Talk about the ultimate away game. I also managed to go to a WWE Pay-Per-View, Vengeance. I also got a speeding ticket. Joy.
2. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope. But Rachel is expecting a baby come March, so that's close enough.
3. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully the answer is the same as last year.
4. Did you travel? Where did you go? Best holiday memory? Loads of traveling - and the Camry has the miles to prove it. Random trips to Charlotte, Clemson, Atlanta became status quo, while a trip to Cleveland and Orlando/Tallahasee managed to sneak into the mix. There's also a trip to Nashville left in the cards. The best holiday memory would probably go to July 4th "weekend" (the 4th was a Tuesday, so I'm referring to the 2nd) -- I got a chance to go down to Atlanta and hang out with Mike, Phil, and Tristan. Considering that they're three of my most favorite people on that planet, there's no way that weekend could have gone wrong. Thanksgiving weekend with Denny and Cecil get high marks too, but losing the Carolina game brings that down a spot.
5. Best thing you bought? Camille - my 2007 Toyota Camry LE. I love her.
6. Where did most of your money go? See #5
7. What do you wish you had done more of? Exercising. (yeah, I didn't change this answer from last year)
8. What do you wish you had done less of? Driving. I love doing it, but between working for Progressive, football season, and all the random trips everywhere I've had more than my fair share of windshield time.
9. What kept you sane? Music. In times when I've just wanted to choke people a few key mp3s kept me from snapping.
10. What drove you mad? Clemson losing to Maryland by 1 point. All things considered, that one hurt worse than the USC loss. And women as always.
11. What made you celebrate? Wii Get! Seeing Pit in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl trailer also excited me way more than it should have. And Katie Couric leaving the Today Show. I threw a small party on her last day.
12. What made you sad? Leaving Progressive. I really enjoyed it there.
13. How was your birthday this year? To be honest, I really don't remember it. Not because I was drunk or anything, but because I kind of wanted a low key affair. I took the day off, but I don't think I really did anything.
14. What political issue stirred you the most this year? The treatment of my Mexican brothers and sisters...
15. Were you in love in 2006? Contrary to popular belief, no.
16. What would you like to have in 2006 that you didn't have this year? Man, that's a big question. I'll have to come back to that one in a few days...
17. What date from 2006 will be etched in your memory and why? July 8, 2006. Eric said that is a date that will live in infamy. Nothing special happened outside of picking his drunk ass up from in front of Tiger Town Tavern, but he said it was important so good enough for me.
18. What song will remind you of 2006? Album? Song: 1st half of 2006 - Gnarls Barkley "Crazy," 2nd half of 2006 - The Killers "When You Were Young." Album: The Killers "Sam's Town"
19. Compared to this time last year are you happier? Truthfully, I don't know. There are a few things I'm really happy and excited about. Then there are others I'm a little down about. I'm probably more confused than anything else right now.
20. Biggest achievement this year? Getting into the graduate program at Clemson. As a Clemson alum, that's not a big achievement, but at the same time I should be thankful that I had the opportunity to do so.
21. Biggest disappointment this year? Not being to transfer to the Progressive office in Greenville. Kinda sucks, but there's a reason for everything.
22. What is the one thing that would have made you more satisfied? Being able to answer all the questions I have/had in my head.
23. Best new person you met this year? Believe it or not, I don't think I've met anyone new this year that I still keep up with and/or made an impact on my life. With that being said, the girl at some house party who let me punch her in the face gets my nod.
24. A valuable life lesson you learnt this year? “Bros before hos. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They got your back after your ho rips your heart out, for no good reason. And you were nothing but great to your ho, and you told her that she was the only ho for you. And that she was better than all the other ho’s in the world. And then suddenly, she’s not your ho no mo.”

Cobby's Top 5 Roleplaying Games

5.) Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines - This game has a great story trapped in a buggy game. Of course, considering the developer (Troika), that's to be expected. They had a very bad habit of doing this. If you play this, be sure to install both the last official patch (which made the game 85% playable) and the latest fan patch (that raises the playability to about 95%).

In this game, you're a new vampire out to carve a place for yourself in the vampire hierarchy. I know, it sounds kind of lame, but the plot is pretty involved and there are a decent number of ways to play through every quest.

4.) Baldur's Gate - This game is solely responsible for breathing new life into the RPG genre. It started the trend of moving RPGs away from the stereotypical grind (killing monsters for experience and loot to become more powerful to kill more monsters for experience and loot...) and placed a much larger emphasis on dialogue, story, and character development.

3.) Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn + Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal - The first game was, essentially, perfect. The sequel found some way to take perfect and make it better in every conceivable way. If you played the first game, you have the option to import your character to use in this one. You can also just make a new character, and with the new class options, this may be the better way to go, especially on subsequent playthroughs. And there will be more than one playthrough. This game is epic in every way, and there's simply no way to experience all it has to offer on one (or even two or three) playthrough(s).

2.) Fallout and Fallout 2 - I love both of these games equally which is why they're getting lumped together. The story of these games center around the West and Pacific Northwest some time after nuclear war turns America into a wasteland. Gameplay-wise, these games were true breakthroughs. Your options are almost limitless (within reason) as far as what sort of character you have. The same goes for choices within the game. Sure, there's an overarching plot, but how you get from Point A to Point B is entirely up to you. I can't recommend these games enough.

1.) Planescape: Torment - This is, quite simply, the best RPG ever made. Anyone that knows anything about RPGs will not dispute this fact. This game is as story-driven as is possible while still letting the player have actual options. Your choices have far-reaching effects on the story. How you play has a far-reaching effect on the story. Do you want to play a brute and just smash everything in your path? Go for it. But to get the most out of this game, it helps to invest some time developing those social skills and actually talking to NPCs. You can skip something like 90% of all combat, including the final encounters, if you talk to people instead of hitting them.

Cinco Pick: I see Arkansas stumbling into the SEC Title game after getting "upset" by LSU

Florida Gators v. Florida State Seminoles
Cinco Pick: The Noles have been blasted by damn near every ACC team they've played at home this year. Add to that they almost lost to Troy. Gators win this one easily.

The Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh
Notre Dame Fighting Irish v. USC Trojans
Cinco Pick: I don't like the Irish. I'd rather not see OSU/Mich II. I'm picking the Men of Troy on those reasons alone.

The Bedlam Series
Oklahoma Sooners v. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Cinco Pick: Is anyone really picking the Cowboys? Sooners roll in this one.

The Egg Bowl
Mississippi State Bulldogs v. Ole Miss Rebels
Cinco Pick: Look for Sylvester Croom to have his boys ready. It takes a few years to build a program, but a win over his rival will show the boosters that he's on the right track.

The Commonwealth Cup
Virginia Cavaliers v. Virginia Tech Hokies
Cinco Pick: A battle of the have and havenots. VT is the Coastal Division's best team, however they'll be at home next week. Look for them to take that frustration out on the Cavaliers (keeping them home for the post season in the process).

The Holy War
BYU Cougars v. Utah Utes
Cinco Pick: I know nothing about BYU, but I hear they're good. Good enough for me.

The Border Showdown for the Indian War Drum
Kansas Jayhawks v. Missouri Tigers
Cinco Pick: After getting homered by the Big XII officiating crew the Tigers should bounce back against a Kansas team that's had their spirit broken by losing one too many close games.

The Civil War
Oregon Ducks v. Oregon State Beavers
Cinco Pick: Sure the Beavers handed USC their only loss this season. But do the Beavers have an answer for the Ducks' yellow on yellow jerseys? My money is on no. Ducks take this one.

Georgia Bulldogs v. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Cinco Pick: Georgia Tech is extremely overrated. If it weren't for the fact they were in the Coastal Division of the ACC they would be no where near the Top 25. Dawgs take the Jackets out back and show them who still runs the Peach State.

Arizona Wildcats v. Arizona State Sun Devils
Cinco Pick: ASU has a cooler mascot. They win. (Who cares either way)

Southern Fried Football Probation Bowl
North Carolina Tarheels v. Duke Blue Devils
Cinco Pick: This game was supposed to pit a 1-10 UNC team against an 0-11 Duke team, but NC State decided to blow that scenario. While the Tar Heels have a newfound sense of confidence, I really want Duke to pull this one out. Blue Devils by 4. Yes, 4.

The Battle for the Palmetto State
South Carolina Gamecocks v. Clemson Tigers
Cinco Pick: Which team shows up? The Gamecocks that played tough with Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas? Or the Carolina team that took the field against Wofford and Georgia? In the same breath, which Tiger team takes the field? The BCS-bound Tigers of the early part of the season or the team that's slowly backing its way in to the Mieneke Car Care Bowl? Too tough to call. But right now, the Gamecocks are looking to get over the hump and the Tigers (led by Will Proctor...) are barely trying to hold on. Hopefully the two weeks off have done the Tigers some good, but right now going off of what I've seen over the past 3 games (as much as I hate to), I see Carolina snapping their 4 game losing streak to my beloved Tigers.

I pray that I'm wrong.

Top 5 Horror Writers

I notice there isn't a whole lot of talk about literature and writing on here. Maybe that's because Terence spends too much time watching wrasslin' and not enough time reading. But fear not, Cobby is here to save the day!

5) Stephen King
Right out the gate, let me say that King has not been scary for about twenty years. Weird? Yes. Scary? Not really. His earlier stuff, most notably his first two short story compilations, has some pretty frightening stuff that kept me up many nights.

4) Clive Barker
Barker created the character Pinhead, and that isn't even his meanest, nastiest creation. Need I really say more?

3) Robert W. Chambers
Chambers writes in the Lovecraftian style, but he does so better than most. He leans more towards the "this guy is just plain crazy" than Lovecraft did, but his stories are all very, very good.

2) There is no number 2. Number 1 is so awesome he takes up both spots.

1) Howard Phillips Lovecraft
Lovecraft is the king of horror. He is the most emulated writer in the genre, and most horror writers get their start by writing short stories to fit into the Cthulhu Mythos. Lovecraft's stories deal predominantly with ancient beings toying with mankind in various ways, but you're always left wondering whether or not the events in the story actually happened, or were they the ramblings of an insane mind. Even after 70 years his works have not lost their appeal, and I doubt they ever will.

Top 5 Horror Games

I figured I'd follow up my horror movie list with one about games.

5) Resident Evil
While certainly not the first horror game, it was definitely the first with mass appeal. It's not really scary by today's standards, but back in the day, I was too scared to play this game at night.

4) F.E.A.R.
There are two ways to play this game. One way is to treat it like another first person shooter and just run at full speed, killing everything. It's not particularly scary that way as you tend to run past or jump over all the little flourishes. However, if you play it more like the developers intended and take things nice and slow, this game will scare the crap out of you.

3) Clive Barker's Undying
This is easily the scariest computer game I've played. Clive Barker has a truly twisted imagination, and he brings every ounce of it to bear on this game. You are always scared of what might be around the next corner.

2) The Fatal Frame series
Ok, so it's not a single game, but you have to lump these three together or else they'd dominate most of the top five. To get an idea of what this game is like, think of Resident Evil, only instead of zombies and monsters you have ghosts, and instead of pistols, shotguns, and grenade launchers, you have a camera. Yes, you read that right, you have to fight off ghosts with a goddamn camera! And these aren't your friendly types of ghosts like Slimer and Casper; oh no, these are the "raping you is the nicest thing I'm going to do tonight" ghasts from movies like 13 Ghosts.

1) The Silent Hill series
Like the previous entry, I had to list this as a series rather than a single game just so I could list something besides Silent Hill games. These games are scary for the exact opposite reasons as any Resident Evil games; the RE games are scary because of what is happening right there on your screen. The Silent Hill games are scary because of things you may just catch a single glimpse of, or maybe something you think you might have heard but can't be sure but holy Jesus was it horrifying. The unknown will always be scarier than the known.

You know that crazy-face-movement thing that has been played out to death in the last five years? This is the movie that started it all. It was also a major inspiration for Silent Hill.

3) Audition
This is one of the dullest movies until the last half hour or so, and then it becomes one of the sickest and most twisted things you'll ever see.

2) John Carpenter's The Thing
This movie holds up well for being almost 25 years old. No movie since this one has managed to capture the overwhelming sense of isolation and paranoia quite so well.

1) Two-way tie between The Ring and John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness
The Ring terrified me like few other movies. However, I will readily admit that freaky little children scare me more than anything except spiders. But seriously, if that scene where Samara climbs out of the TV didn't scare the crap out of you, then the crazies are right and overexposure to violent and disturbing media can desensitize people.

ItMoM is a truly stunning story about what defines insanity...but the presentation leaves a bit to be desired. Sam Neil is the star, which is also quite bad ass.

I'll be honest. I was about to rip Nelly Furtado a new one. I mean who covers Hall & Oates? But then I listened to the song...hot damn, Timberland's done it again. Nelly Furtado's version of "Maneater" bares a striking resembalance to Hall & Oates' 1982 "classic" (I use that term very loosely), without ever sampling or stepping on the toes of the original. Currently an International smash hit, its on track to be her next US Single. Excellent choice.

The Killers - "When You Were Young"
What did I say all summer? "Summer is for rap, rock will be back in full swing come Fall." Thankfully I was right more than I could ever know -- new stuff from The Killers!! The first single off their upcoming album, "Sam's Town" (in stores October 3, 2006 - everyone should buy three copies), "When You Were Young" is classic Killers - synth pop and remixed 80s New Wave. Not only that, but the video is grade A stuff. Sorry for rambling and not putting together any coherent thoughts, but The Killers are my favorite band ("Hot Fuss" is the ONLY CD I've purchased in the last 3 years), so to say I'm a little excited for their sophomore effort is an understatement...
...unfortunately, "Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll" was not included as a bonus for us Americans who were deprived of it from the US Release of "Hot Fuss."

Since this entire post has an early-80s vibe so far, why not continue the tradition? (Who's gonna be the first to tell me "London Calling" was released in 1979?) Named the #15 Best Song of All Time by Rolling Stone and landing a spot on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs That Shaped Rock & Roll," there's not much that I can say about this song that hasn't been said already.

Jibbs ft. Jibbs - "Chain Hang Low"
This dude is on a track featuring himself. Hotdamn I love rappers. Last but not least in this weeks Sunday Night Selections we have rap newcomer Jibbs. Hailing from St. Louis, Jibbs debut track channels the spirit of rappers gone-by (listen to the track and tell me you aren't reminded of Jay-Z, Nelly (another St. Louis native), and mid-90s Cash Money Records) and to be honest the kid does a pretty good job. While it might have been better to release this track during what can only be described as a red-hot summer for rap/r&b tracks, as a rap rookie it might have been for the best. The kid has potential (well, based of this one track he does) and it'd be a shame for him to get lost in the shuffle (which I hope an pray Yung Joc does).

A throwback track detailing the feelings that every Generation-Y male has experienced at some point and time. In a day and age of MySpace and Facebook, its surprising that this track sounds as if it was made in the late 80s. Its even more surprising that Gym Class Heroes uses all live instruments -- no samples or drum machines here. Definite winner of the five songs chosen here.

Blue October - "Hate Me"
A little old, but as I've said before, the well has run a little dry on rock songs. (Though to be fair, I'm sure there's a wealth of good rock songs out now, but I haven't had much time to catch up on my watching of fuse). The song is borderline depressing, yet it sounds as if its complimentative at the same time. I don't know. Either way, behind My Chemical Romance's "Helena" and Brand New's "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows," its one of my favorite "leave me alone, I want to be all emo-y" songs.

This is a first. This song was actually requested to be in SnS. The requestee didn't request it because its such a sultry song with a hot video. They requested it because they were suprised that Chris Issac is still alive. He was definitely spotted on The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno earlier in the week singing...you guessed it, Wicked Game. $2 to someone who can name another Chris Issac song without using any outside resources.

From the depths of 1994 comes this forgotten remix. This was back before Busta was doing tracks with the Pussycat Dolls or telling us how much he loves his bitch. Only thing he did back then was tell us that the world was going to end in 2000 (read the liner notes of all his CDs...for that matter, just read the names of his first 3 albums. Interesting gimmick). The pairing of Busta and ODB isn't one I can't say that I would have thought up, but it works flawlessly as the two share a very similar rapping style. Solid track.

Carrie Underwood - "Jesus Take The Wheel"
I know. You're not supposed to rip on people singing about Jesus. It's not cool. But damn, I really hate this song. Is she singing about a car accident or is the whole song just a really bad metaphor? And I don't know who at ClearChannel decided that this song had crossover appeal, but they need to be fired. PuttPublish Posting this song between "Hustlin" and "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" is not going to keep people from changing the dial.

Brooke Hogan ft. Paul Wall - "About Us"
Out of the four songs listed here, this one is probably the least atrocious. Paul Wall's verses are actually pretty good and Brooke's singing is surprisingly above average. But in the grand scheme of things, she's just another dime-a-dozen blonde. If she were Britney, Christina, or Jessica beautiful this track might be a big springboard to a successful career. But she's not. Instead she's relagated to a few TRL appearances and forever living in her father's shadow. Who, by the way, is using this track as a way to get back into the wrestling spotlight.

“If things go our way, you might see why I’m a legend,” said Orton. “And if your daddy has a problem with that, he’ll find out why I’m the Legend Killer.”

Every wrestling fan is already rolling their eyes at the thought of a Randy Orton v. Hulk Hogan match at SummerSlam 06.

I'm trying to figure out why this track gets so much airplay. Kelis's vocals are horrible, the hook is obnoxious, and the video design is old news. Hell, not even Too $hort couldn't save this track. Guess when you're married to Nas (who's friends w/ hip-hop mogul Jay-Z again), who needs talent?

I've been reppin' those boys in Three 6 all year. They came up well. From "Tear Da Club Up '97" to winning an Oscar. This has been their time to shine. From back to back bangers ("Stay Fly" & "Poppin' My Collar") to doing a GREAT track for WWE Wrestler Mark Henry, they've been on fire.

Well it looks like someone just dropped a big bucket of water on them. This track is certified garbage.

4) Eddie Murphy - "Party All The Time": Now I'm sure everyone is thinking, "Terence, Eddie Murphy can't sing, why is he considered an artist." Eddie can blow. He's done some singing on SNL and I'm sure we've all see Shrek. But this...this track is just pure garbage. I love that Rick James some how managed to keep his invovlement on this track pretty low profile. It's not completely Eddie's fault this track is so bad.

3) Prince - "BatDance": Prince is weird. That's a given. The song and related video took the purple one's weirdness to whole new level.

2) The Ramones - "Pet Semetary": I think I'm the first person on the Internet in about four years to even mention this song. Talk about sweeping one under the rug.

Angels and Airwaves - "The Adventure"
I know I just had an A&A track up here a couple weeks back but I like their stuff. And considering the state of rock lately (if I hear "Dani California" one more time I might scream) they're almost a breath of fresh air. I haven't had a chance to listen to the album, but between "The Adventure" and "The Gift" I'm almost ready to deem it purchase worthy.

Multiple - "Moonlight Shadow"
Officially this should go under the remix category, but it fits better here.
Originally I heard this song on some random 80s compliation. I liked it, but it was a bit hokey, so I paid it no mind. That version can be found HERE. Originally performed by Mike Oldfield and Maggie O'Reilly, the song left a lot to be desired.
Fast forward about 10 years to 2003 and I came across the song again in Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix. That version (performed by Missing Heart) is easily my favorite and can be found HERE.
Fast forward maybe a week later and I'm searching on KaZaA and I come across version of the song that as remade somewhere inbetween the original me finding out about the DDR version. That version (by Groove Coverage) can be found HERE. This version of the song is my least favorite.
Fast forward to about a week ago. I'm in the mall and I walk by Abercombie and Fitch and I hear what I just know is "Moonlight Shadow." Sure enough, the chorus kicks in and its "Moonlight Shadow" -- unfortunately its the Groove Theory version. Fortunately, its the version Konami remixed for Trance Para Para. FYI -- The Para Para Paradise games are very similar to their Dance Dance Revolution cousins, except that you play with your entire body instead of just your feet. While Konami made the games, they did not make the fad (Wiki link for more info). Anyways, that version may now by my new favorite and can be heard HERE.

And in case you're curious, the reason there's 4 versions of that song here is because I couldn't decide which one I wanted to use. Go Joe.

Daddy Yankee ft. Lloyd Banks & Young Buck - "Rompe (G-Unit Remix)"
Well I'll be damned, but this shit is HOT. The original was good, but Banks and YB's addition to the track make for a rather interesting dynamic. I'm curious as to how this collaboration came about, but I'm not complaining that its around. And for those of you'll wondering, "Rompe" is "Break" in Spanish. Cinco Arena: One Night Stand

ECW One Night Stand '06 was a rather memorable pay-per-view. While I would love to give a recap here, that's not what Cinco is used for. Cinco is used for lists. Nothing more, nothing less. What I'm going to do is construct a list of things that were chanted at WWE Champion John Cena, before, during, and after his match with Rob Van Damn by the RABID ECW fans in attendance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. I've been watching wrestling for YEARS and I have never seen a wrestler have "Home-Field Advantage" -- and I've seen Ric Flair wrestle in the Carolinas. 5) It's Sexy. Camry's aren't supposed to look cool.
4) Everytime I start the car, the dashboard reads "Welcome to Camry." The dork inside me likes that a lot. The only way that would be better would be if some female robotic voice said it.
3) It come standard with auxilary jacks (iPod) and it plays MP3 (data) CDs. I knew about the former and was planning on buying an iPod to take advantage of that. I didn't find out about the latter until I got in to drive it for the first time. Guess who's not buying an iPod anymore.
2) 31 MILES PER GALLON. After driving a Buick for the past 4 years, I don't know who's happer - me or my bank account.

So things like the VMAs, sporting events, and whatever else needs to be predicted will be done here. And what better event to christen this feature than "The Granddaddy of 'Em All," "The Showcase of the Immortals," "The Biggest of the Big Four," WrestleMania 22. Hopefully I can step my game up to the "Big Time" and do better with these predictions than I did w/ the VMAs a few months back.

The Boogeyman v. Booker T & Sharmell
Prediction: Booker T may be a 5-Time, 5-Time, 5-Time, 5-Time, 5-Time WCW Champion, but The Boogeyman eats worms. Plus The Boogeyman is still undefeated. I don't see him counting the lights at the end of this match.

You know, I was ready to pitch a fit as to why this match is on the card. WWE Tag Team Champions MNM aren't on the card but these two are? But after looking at these covers, who really wants to see MNM anyways? (well, maybe Melina)
Prediction: I was ready to call Torrie in this one, but as much as I hate Candice I have to applaude her dedication to learning how to wrestle. I don't know how many of you guys saw RAW, but Candice breaking out a version of Jeff Jarrett's "The Stroke" made my night.

So then we have Shelton - current IC Champ. Doesn't need the push. Ric Flair - 16 time Champion. Name alone will get him a title shot.

World Tag Team Championship Match
Carlito/Chris Masters v. Kane/The Big Show (c)
Prediction: I'm thinking long term on this one. I love seeing Kane/TBS as champions but they don't need the straps. Plus someone is going to have to feud w/ the WWE Champ and they can't do that as a tag team. The tag straps will do good to give Carlito and Masters some presitige - plus they can always have the customary tag team break up feud. Question is, out of these two future stars, who plays the role of Marty Janetty?
Winner: Carlito/Chris Masters (expect LOTS of cheating)

Casket Match
"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry v. The Undertaker
Winner: Undertaker to improve his WrestleMania streak to 14-0
Losers: The fans. This is the match I plan on playing shuffleboard through.

"The Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley v. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge w/ Lita
Though traditional wisdom would say to not bet against Mick Foley, I'm going to. Edge needs to climb back up the rankings to even smell another title shot in the future.

No Holds Barred
Mr. McMahon v. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels
Anyone else notice that there are two "hardcore" matches on this year's WrestleMania? I mean seriously, what's the difference between a hardcore match and a no holds barred match?
Winner: Shawn lost to Angle at WrestleMania 21. He lost (unwillingly) to Hogan at SummerSlam. He did the job to Shane McMahon at Saturday Night's Main Event. He was forced to join Mr. McMahon's "Kiss My Ass" Club. Unless Bret Hart himself runs in and screws up this match (highly unlikely), Shawn's definitely due.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

United States Championship Match
John Bradshaw Layfield v. Chris Benoit (c)
This is going to be your match of the night. Its also probably the hardest to predict.
Winner: JBL - He's the one who has more to gain from winning this match. Both are credible main eventers, but Benoit doesn't necessarily need the US Title to look good. On the other hand, JBL had to hold the WWE Championship for 10 months and go over Booker T, Angle, Undertaker, Eddie, and The Big Show, before anyone even thought he was a credible main eventer.

Women's Championship Match
Mickie James v. Trish Stratus (c)
They've built this feud up slowly and steadily. Now its time for the real payoff match.
Winner: Mickie James - This bitch is crazy. And she's hot. And she's done a little softcore porn before. PLUS she can actually wrestle. I say let Mickie win it and have Trish chase her for the title throughout the summer.

World Wrestling Entertainment Championship Match
Triple H v. John Cena (c)
I hope and pray that this is not the WrestleMania main event. It'll be watchable, but SD! title match looks so much better on paper.
Winner: Listen. Wait for it...

JOHN CENA TO RETAIN.
Trips knows that belt is his whenever he wants it. He's knocked up Vince's daughter. Why rush it? I say Trips does the "honorable" thing and lays down for Cena. Why?

So he can demolish him at Backlash.

World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match
Randy Orton v. Rey Mysterio v. Kurt Angle (c)
Winner: A difficult match to predict, but I'm going to go against the grain of all the internet smarts and choose Rey Mysterio to go over as champion (instead of Randy Orton). As wrestling fans, all of us like Rey Mysterio and feel that he is deserving of holding "the big strap" -- even if just for a little while. Sure, the majority of his push is a direct result of the unfortunate passing of Eddie Guerrero, but Rey was deserving of it anyways.

This is a rare case. Whenever I do my Cinco lists, I try to aim to have some consistency. I try not to have something be outranked/omitted in one list only be to ranked higher/placed on a subsequent similar list. One example of where I don't do this is my Top WrestleMania Matches list and my Top Wrestilng Matches list. In which case I'll retcon the latter list. Hogan v. Savage was good, but better than TLC II, Savage/Steamboat, and Hart/Michaels II, definitely not.

I also try to make sure I don't do the same list twice. The following post is an example of me doing just that. When I got to the top of the list I got a feeling that "hey, I've done this before." I searched through Cinco and nothing came up, forgetting that I have/had about 3 other places on the web where I spew my thoughts. Definitely pulled up a list from BlogMix which was posted on July 20th, 2005. I've included that list also in this post...

5) Atreyu (Bon Jovi) - "You Give Love A Bad Name"
Very faithful to the source material w/ a hard metal edge thrown in. I'm not sure what Atreyu was going for in covering this song, but hardcore credibility probably wasn't it. Either way, great version.

4) Marilyn Manson (Gloria Jones) - "Tainted Love"
A cover of a cover (Soft Cell was not the original artist)... Manson's version does a really good job of capturing the torment and angst felt when one goes through a troublesome breakup. Slighty demonic bassline, but hey, it adds a little spice to it.

3) Outshine (Outfield) - "Your Love"
The vocals aren't as good as the original, but I think the music and tempo is actually better in this one. The difference is almost night and day. Speaking of which, this version is better for driving around at night while the original would seem to fit better on a summer day w/ the top down.

2) Britney Spears (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) - "I Love Rock & Roll"
Rag on Brit Brit all you want. Sure she's married to that loser kFed. Yeah, she's released a few songs that fell flat. And let's not forget that HORRIBLE version of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" she did a few years back. But even w/ all that in her back catalog, the heir apparent to Madonna's "Queen of Pop" title did a wonderful job on The Blackhearts staple song. The guitar work isn't as good, but Brit's sexy vocals do more than enought to make up for it.

1) Orgy (New Order) - "Blue Monday"
Definitely a case of preferring the cover over the original. While the original was covered in 80s NuWave Synthesizers, this one is definitely more rock based. Guess which one has aged well and which one hasn't. The New Order version definitely dates itself.

5) WrestleMania 21: RAW v. SmackDown! Interpromotional Match: Kurt Angle v. Shawn Michaels
I almost don't want to put this match on the list since its so new, but hot damn, its that damn good. The last "dream match" that could be had using the Interpromotional rosters was definitely the best one. The best 2 best WWE wrestlers of the last 10 years going at it toe to toe. Easily the best match on the card.

4) WrestleMania X-7: World Tag Team Championship - TLC II: Edge & Christian v. Hardy Boyz v. The Dudley Boys
Many times when the WWE attemps a sequel to a great match, they tend to miss the mark a bit. While the prior SummerSlam's original TLC match delievered, TLC II delievered in every way possible on "the grandest stage of them all." What was possibly one of the best tag team matches in history was also probably one of the most brutal. How do you learn to fall off of a 20 foot ladder? You don't.

3) WrestleMania XII: Iron Man Match for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship: Shawn Michaels v. Bret "The Hitman" Hart
Truthfully, I don't really like this match. Its a little slow paced and I remember the fact that its length (60 mins) attributed to the other matches on the card being rather short. I also don't really like Bret Hart. But, my bias aside, I can't deny that this match is a classic. Its also one of the few matches I pull out when people go "How can you watch this fake stuff?" When you have two master technicians in the ring with plenty of time on their hands, they will suck anyone into believing, if only for an instant, that wrestling is "real."

2) WrestleMania III: Intercontinental Championship: "Macho Man" Randy Savage v. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Sure WrestleMania III is known for setting an indoor attendance record of 93,173, a record that still stands today. And its also known for Hulk Hogan being the first man to successfully bodyslam and pin Andre the Giant. But what it should be known for is the 5-star classic that Savage and Steamboat put on. Its so good that I've already made it a pre-req that any woman who marries me has to know what the best match at WrestleMania III was. It saddens me that when I did a Top 5 Wrestling Matches back in the early days of Cinco, I completely forgot about this match. I'm a bad wrestling fan.

1) WrestleMania X: Ladder Match Intercontinental Championship - Shawn Michaels v. Razor Ramon
THIS is the match that got me hooked on wrestling. I had been a big fan before, but wasn't die hard. That all changed after this match. Revolutionary for its time and it still holds up very nicely today.

Unfortunately, this year's WrestleMania is not developing like its supposed to. World Wrestling Entertainment has its hype machine in full throttle, but something just isn't clicking. So as a result, I'm going to hype myself up for WrestleMania. There's 3 Sundays between now and WrestleMania, so each Sunday I'll do a "Top 5" WrestleMania-themed list. So without further adieu...

5) WrestleMania 2 - Someone up in Stamford, Connecticut decided it'd be a brilliant idea to hold WrestleMania in three different arenas simulataneously. Well it looked good on paper. Having a main event of King Kong Bundy v. Hulk Hogan for the WWF Heavyweight Championship didn't help matters either. On the bright side, it was in a steel cage.
Special Note: 1/3 rd of this WrestleMania was held in Chicago. Keep that in mind.

4) WrestleMania XI - Notsomuch bad as in just not worthy of being called "WrestleMania." Also, at the biggest show of the year, your Heavyweight Championship Match should not play second fiddle to a main event of Lawrence Taylor v. Bam Bam Bigelow.
Special Note: Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson were in attendance at this WrestleMania. Unfortunately, they did not participate in a mud wrestling match.

3) WrestleMania VII - You know its going to be a bad year when they can't even sell out the original arena. Originally to be held at the L.A. Coliseum, low ticket sales forced WrestleMania to be held at the Sports Arena. The WWE will say otherwise though.
Special Note: The Undertaker began his impressive 13-0 WrestleMania streak at WM7 with a win over "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka

2) WrestleMania IX - This WrestleMania broke one of the 2 unspoken WrestleMania rules. 1) Don't hold WrestleMania's in Chicago. 2) Don't hold WrestleMania's outside. Well considering that WM9 was held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, the Chicago rule wasn't broken. And the way the main event went down w/ the Heavyweight Title changing hands twice (once to an unadvertised Hulk Hogan) just tainted the whole thing.
Special Note: This is the only time you will ever see WWE Commentator Jim Ross in a toga.

1) WrestleMania 13: Heat! - There were three things wrong with this WrestleMania before the first match was annoucned. 1) The number 13 is never good. 2) That silly subtitle. 3) It was being held in Chicago. As far as star power goes, this WrestleMania should have been better than it was. Undertaker, British Bulldog, Triple H, (a very young) The Rock, and Owen Hart all made appearances on this card -- its just that none of the wrestling was very good. Thankfully a submission match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart made this WrestleMania somewhat watchable.
Special Note: There was nothing special about this WrestleMania. Bad, bad, bad.

And for those of you keeping score at home, this year's WrestleMania (22) is being held at the Allstate Arena, which was formerly the Rosemont Horizon -- home of (a portion of) WrestleMania 2 and WrestleMania 13. Yep. This one's in Chicago.

5) The Hunter (Bambi) - Someone got killed in a Disney movie? Yeah, it would be a long time before that happened again. Probably the reason all these activists are so anti-hunters. They can't let go of seeing Bambi's mom catch a slug between the eyes. She woulda been hit by a car anyways.

4) Cruella DeVille (101 Dalmations) - Probably only on the list because she has a bad ass name. I mean, wanting to kill puppies really isn't THAT bad. There's too many dogs around now anyways. Though I'm sure wanting to gas 101 of them would earn you a trip to the slammer in any state.

3) Jafar (Aladdin) - Tragically flawed when compared to the other villians. Where as most of the other villians are stopped due to carelessness, it was Jafar's own selfish greed that brought him down. But as far as a bad guy goes, he's pretty solid. Evil sorcerer. Default bad guy mustache. Dark colors. He fits the template. And at least Disney still uses him pretty often - he gets a pretty prominent spot around the Disney parks when "something evil" needs to happen. On Disney's list he's probably the #1 guy, but that's probably because most of their other villians are either a) not that evil b) not human (see #1 & 2)

2) Ursala (The Little Mermaid) - A big, ugly, fat bitch. Who had magic and the ability to turn into a hot brunette bitch. Hell, if her song was half decent or she had punched Ariel in the face, there might have been an upset for the #1 spot.

1) Scar (The Lion King) - The most overlooked of Disney villians. But damn if he's not perfect in the role. Pure evil. Obnoxiously proper. Hell, he has an army of hyenas that goose step. Best of all, he's the only villian that actually accomplished what he set out to do for more than 5 minutes. Then there's that whole killing Mufasa thing -- which in the whole "PC" Disney era is pretty major. I'll be honest, by the end of the Lion King, I was cheering for this dude.

Oh yeah, he's also the only villian w/ a song that's actually pretty good and not just tossed in as an after thought...

League All Stars, East v. West, USA v. the World, North America v. the World, no game due to the Olympics (2006), a half-assed game due to the Olympics (2002).

4) NASCAR: Nextel Cup All Star Challenge @ Lowe's Motor Speedway - I don't watch NASCAR, so I have no clue what happens at this event outside of the main race. But ya know what, I like it. I think its because all the cars have new "skins." And that in itself is enough to get me to watch it for at least an hour or so.

3) World Wrestling Entertainment: Fan Axxess Weekend, WrestleMania Recap, the Slammys, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, WrestleMania. Eventhough the WWE doesn't have an "all-star" break this is as close as you're going to get. Packed with wall-to-wall nostalgia, this is the time of the year that makes every WWE fan tingle inside.

2) Major League Baseball: HomeRun Derby, Celebrity Softball, the Futures game, and the All-Star game. Unlike the #1 selection, you're never really promised excitement w/ any of the events, but when they hit, they hit gold.
